It is a sunny autumn day when we visit our supplier of Conifers and other Christmas greenery. It's a perfect time to stop by supplier Andromeda, as the season has just started, which means the trees are still full of greenery.

On large fields, different types of conifers grow side by side. Owners Wim and Peter give us an extensive tour of the fields.

1. Can you tell us more about the company?

We have specialized in beautiful Christmas greenery for florists. They can grow well here on the sand of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug and the WBE branches are relatively not far away. The nursery feels like a park with shorter and longer rows of conifers in all colours and species. There is a lot of new planting, but also trees that are more than 50 years old. It is also a nice place to live and work, not only for people, but also for many animal species.

2. What does the company stand for?

We want to supply the beautiful and special types of greenery, especially for Christmas. The range includes many exclusive products. The quality must be the best in the market, with purity, length, uniformity and color. The environmental quality is also highest in the export market with MPS-A+

3. How long has Andromeda been supplying WBE?

Our predecessors have been supplying a predecessor of WBE since the 1960s. We joined the WBE group about 20 years ago. For years we have been able to supply all branches and we feel like part of the WBE family. We therefore do not supply to competitors of WBE.

4. What products does Andromeda supply to WBE?

The most important are the Christmas greenery varieties: a package of about 25 varieties from the beginning of October to December. We also supply Leucothoe and Corylus (curly hazel).

5. What do you think are the benefits of WBE?

WBE is a company with very nice and reliable employees, whom we have had the pleasure of working with for many years. The continuity and mutual respect within WBE makes the group flourish and they take us in their wake.

6. What is your role within the company?

We are the 2 partners/growers within Andromeda. So ultimately responsible for everything from strategy to dishwasher and we don't feel too bad for anything.

7. What does your day look like?

We don't get up as early as the WBE'ers, certainly not in autumn and winter, because we can't cut anything at the nursery in the dark. During busy times, most orders come in in the morning. We make the planning so that the employees can then enjoy their work. And we ourselves do the jobs that are leftover, that is partly cutting ourselves, but mainly preparing the orders and all other jobs and odd jobs.

8. Do you have any tips/tricks for your product?

The most important tip is: start in time for Christmas. Good planning is the foundation of successful Christmas sales. The green can be kept for a long time in the refrigerator or outside in the shade. With proper planning you can do good business at Christmas, because Christmas is becoming an increasingly important theme over the years.
