Together with Master Florist , we challenged florists worldwide to get started with the popular Leather leaf fern. The goal of the challenge? Putting the classic foliage in the spotlight and inspiring other florists with the fern.
Through the various social media channels of Master Florist and WBE, florists were invited to get started with the Leather leaf fern. It didn't matter what you made, as long as Leather leaf fern was central to the design.
With more than 45 entries from florists worldwide, it was a difficult task to choose a winning arrangement. 5 finalists were chosen. Then it was up to the public to vote for their favorite. The arrangements were liked, shared and promoted. The top 5 arrangements were by: Luigo de Vito, Mateusz Wasak, Tatyana Dichko, Rita Brun and Musho Pogoshyan. Piece by piece beautiful arrangements. But there could only be one winner.

Not only florists but also the students of the Lentiz College in Honselersdijk took part in the competition. 9 students got to work in their own version of the leather leaf fern challenge. In addition to the fact that the students received feedback on their arrangement from florist Tanja (Natuurlijk Gemaakt) immediately after the assignment, a separate prize was also awarded. It's nice to inspire future florists with a classic foliage like Leather leaf Fern.

But why a competition with the Leather leaf fern? Besides the fact that WBE has been importing and exporting the leather leaf fern for years as one of the most popular products, the fern is a foliage with many advantages. The leaf has a long shelf life, grows easily and can be used in many ways. The dark green ferns actually fit into any floral arrangement.
Nevertheless, the foliage is seen by many people as old-fashioned and as a result, the popularity of the leaf is declining. Thanks to the competition, florists were once again triggered to get started with the foliage. A great moment to (re)discover the fern!

The winning design was the arrangement by Musho Poghosyan of By Musho. The arrangement was a combination of tropical plants and flowers and showed how the classic fern can be combined in a modern arrangement.
His prize was two large boxes filled with different types of foliage with a value of over €250.
The boxes with foliage were sent to Musho partly thanks to Master Florist and wholesaler Verdnatura. And on Friday 14 January we received a video that he had received the greenery.
We are especially curious about new arrangements with the cut foliage he has received!
