The Christmas season is the busiest time of the year for WBE. This, of course, is because of all the beautiful Christmas greenery that is widely used this time of year. A green base is not to be missed during the Christmas period. From Nobilis to mosses, our webshop is working overtime and the products are flying out the door. 

So is the popular product Pinus Strobus, also known as Kiefer. The Christmas green is popular not only because of the sophisticated beauty it brings, but also because of the rich symbolism and history it carries.

Behind the scenes

Kiefer, derived from the German word for pine, is a type of pine tree known for its imposing stature and soft needles. Pinus Strobus, its scientific name, is native to North America and over the years has found its way to florists worldwide.

We do not import the Christmas greenery from North America but, weekly, from Germany. Here the cut greens grow in the forest. Our supplier cuts, sorts and cleans the Kiefer by hand. Ready to come our way.  

Its long, slender needles and fresh fragrance make it a favorite for bouquets and arrangements, especially during the winter season.
