From tropical pink pineapples to special green leaves. Our Exotics range is certainly interesting to take a look at!
In addition to the “normal” greenery that you are used to buying in our web shop, we also offer various exotics in our web shop. These products are all real eye-catchers.
We import products such as Heliconia, Protea and Dendrobium every week.
In addition, the “exotic group” also includes exclusive greenery, which is mainly offered per stem, such as Cape Green, Convallaria Majalis and Philodendron.
In this blog, we would like to introduce you to one of our regular suppliers and tell you more about the background of the products.
The Flower Company is our supplier in South Africa. They are specialists in the export of Cape Green, Proteas and Nutans.
Cape Green is a collective name for various South African green products. These green products grow in a region near the southern tip of South Africa. This region includes the famous Table Mountain and Cape of Good Hope. Hence the name: Cape Green.
When it is winter in the Netherlands, it is high summer in Africa. There is a 3-week summer vacation at the end of December. This is why no African greenery comes our way for 3 weeks.
The Proteas and Nutans are also growing in this region. The special Protea is the national flower of South Africa. Did you know that the flower is also locally called Suikerbossie?
Nutans are also known as exotic pincushions. This is due to the special appearance of the exotic.
We offer both the Proteas and the Nutans in different colours in our web shop.
The WBE group has been working with the Flower Company for a long time. This is why we can share multiple photos with you from behind the scenes in Africa.

Another special exotic is the pink pineapple. We import these from Ivory Coast.
These pink exotics are widely used during French Mother's Day. We offer the pineapple in different sizes.
Thanks to the tropical climate of Ivory Coast, many special flowers and plants grow in that area.
When the products have been cut and processed, they go as quickly as possible in the truck to the airport to come our way. This way the products stay as fresh as possible.

Despite their exotic appearance, we also have a number of Exotic products from the Dutch greenhouses. Examples are Anthurium Leaf, Monstera Leaf, Philodendron Leaf and Tillandsia.
Tillandsia, also called air plant, comes from the Bromeliad family.
Because the greenery has no roots, it is an ideal product to use in a bouquet or arrangement. The maintenance of the Tillandsia is minimal! Just a spray of water once in a while is enough to keep these remarkable plants happy.
