Whether you want to work at the WBE Group, have questions about your pay slip or just want to have a nice chat, Marinka Albers is the right person to talk to.
As HR of the WBE Group, no day is the same for her. From difficult conversations to travelling to Germany. Would you like to know more about Marinka, her hobbies or her work at WBE? Then read the entire interview.

Tell us about yourself (age, relationship, place of residence, etc.)
I live in Honselersdijk. I have been married for 23 years to Willem, and we have two lovely girls, Fleur (15 years) & Pien (9 years). I have been working for almost 7 years at WBE as Manager HR. A very nice job!
What are your hobbies (besides working hard at wbe) ?
In my free time, I like to go on long-distance active trips with my family, go to the theatre, read a book or do goldsmithing.
What did you study?
Originally, I am a nursing student. After about 10 years in the nursing profession, I followed the Personnel & Employment higher vocational education course in the evenings, and I entered the HR profession.
What did you do before you started working at WBE?
Before I joined WBE, I worked for De Lotto as an HR manager. But the flower auction in my backyard made me very curious! There was so much going on there that I went for a job interview with Jacqueline, Peter and Cees Jan.
From day 1 that I work here, I am glad that I followed my curiosity! The whole auction world is really nice! Within the WBE group, there are enthusiastic hard-working people. You notice that it is a family business, because you are well taken care of. There is a nice open atmosphere where everyone can and may be himself.
In which department do you work at WBE?
Together with Marijke Schilderman and Daan van Reeuwijk, I give shape to HR within the WBE group. I regularly visit all the branches, which is great fun. Each location has its own atmosphere and culture. I think it is important that HR is at the heart of the organisation and is easily accessible to everyone.
At which branch do you work?
I work at all branches within the WBE Group.
What does your average working day look like?
I work 32 hours a week, and no day is the same. So how can I tell what my day looks like? Often, I don't even know when I start. But that also makes it the best job you can have. I deal with the hiring of colleagues, assisting sick colleagues, making sure everyone gets paid, looking at how certain business processes can run better, the performance of colleagues and other organisational issues. Currently, together with Mel (yes, our retired colleague!), I am busy preparing for the Ride for The Roses in which we participate annually with one of the largest corporate teams.
What do you like best about your job?
I love it when you can help people so much that they can get on with their lives.
What do you like least about your job?
The least enjoyable part of my job is having to point out rules and agreements to people. But that is also part of the job.
What is your favorite product? Why?
My favourite products are: Eucalyptus Cinerea from the green companies of the WBE group, Monstera from Javadoplant and the purple tulips from Greenzone GmbH.
Do you have any ambitions within WBE?
My ambition within the WBE group is to ensure that everyone feels seen, enjoys going to work and from there can make a substantial contribution to the result of the WBE group.
