Get to know us

It is early in the morning when our colleague leaves the (usually) sunny Noordwijk for the auction in Rijnsburg.

He always makes sure that all his colleagues have not one but two cups of tea before they start their work. Only then he is ready to get started.

Branch manager Martin Korpershoek's day consists of purchasing, sales, consultation and contact with the head office. Not one day is the same.

In the interview he tells more about himself, his hobbies and his work. Curious about Martin's story? Then read on quickly.

Tell us about yourself (age, relationship, place of residence, etc.)

My name is Martin Korpershoek, I am 49 years old and I live with my family, Vera and daughter Marieke in Noordwijk aan Zee.

What are your hobbies (besides the hard work at WBE)?

After work I like to do kickboxing and a little fitness and running. On the weekends Vera and I like to walk through the dunes and on the beach of Noordwijk.

What did you study?

Kindergarten, primary school, horticultural school and vocational school.

What did you do before you started working at WBE?

In 2003 I came from the company Adomex at auction Westland (an auction where I also enjoyed working) to WBE Rijnsburg because a sales position had become available and to support (former colleague) Bram Haasbroek with his work.

In which department do you work at WBE?

Branch manager of WBE Rijnsburg

At which branch do you work?

WBE Rijnsburg

What does your average working day look like?

My day at the office always starts with a cup of tea. The work I do is very varied, it consists sales, purchasing and contact and consultation with the head office.

What do you like best about your job?

What I like about my job is the collaboration with my colleagues here at Rijnsburg and the collaboration with the head office and other branches to make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible every day and of course the contact with our customers and suppliers.

What do you like least about your job?

I really hate it when sea containers and air shipments are delayed, lately a lot of sea containers are also scanned at customs. Unfortunately, this usually also causes long delays. Still a tricky thing!

What is your favorite product? Why?

In addition to the regular products in our exotics department, there are often new outstanding products in our exotics department that I often find very beautiful. But my favorite product from our stock is salal. It is a nice firm and durable filler in a flower bouquet.

Do you have any ambitions within WBE?

I always have ambitions, it's always nice to learn something new or to pick up something new.
