Get to know us

From working at our branch Jupiter, picking orders in the box to working in the Retail team, nothing is too crazy for colleague Michael. And he has many more ambitions for the future!

Also this month we share an interview with one of our colleagues with you. This time that of colleague Michael Berrevoets. At 23, he is one of the youngest at the WBE Westland office, but that certainly doesn't stop him!

Read all about his work at WBE in the interview.

Tell us about yourself (age, relationship, place of residence, etc.)

I am Michael Berrevoets, 23 years old and I have lived in Maasland all my life.

What are your hobbies (besides the hard work at WBE)?

I play football in the 1st team of MVV '27, where I have been playing football since I was 5 years old. Besides playing football, I occasionally go to the gym. Besides sports, I always like to play games with some friends. Drinking a beer on the weekend is always a good idea. I also like to travel a lot and see more of the world.

What did you study?

After primary school I went to the Sint-Jozef mavo in Vlaardingen. Here I obtained my VMBO diploma. After secondary school, I had a gap year, because I did not know which education I wanted to do after VMBO. After my gap year, I started the Business and Management course at the MBO Westland. I completed this within 3 years.

What did you do before you started working at WBE?

My first job was picking tomatoes during the school holidays. After this, I started at the Albert Heijn in Maasland as a stock filler. After a number of years of stocking shelves, I started at a local restaurant called T’Wapen van Measlant as a bartender when I was 16. In addition to working behind the bar on weekends, I also worked on the work floor at Javadoplant.

During my Business and Management course, I did an internship at WBE-Westland. This started with helping to unload containers at the Jupiter branch. After that I started to help in the box with processing all orders at WBE Westland. Finally, during my final internship, I visited various suppliers of WBE in Costa Rica and Guatemala for 8 weeks.

In which department do you work at WBE?

Sales/Retail/Workfloor.

At which branch do you work?

WBE-Westland.

What does your average working day look like?

At 5 o'clock I start entering the orders for that day at the office. When I receive an email / phone call/ WhatsApp from a customer, I make sure that the customer's order is entered into the system and can be picked. Together with my colleague Karst, I am responsible for retail customers. This means that we look for new customers, maintain contact with existing customers and arrange orders. For this, I also order different products from Spain and Portugal a few times a week. If the need is high, I will of course also help in the box.

What do you like best about your job?

That every day can be different. I also really like that I get the chance to learn everything from getting the decoration greens to selling it.

What do you like least about your job?

The alarm clock that sometimes goes off very early at 4 o'clock after a pleasant evening on Thursday.

What is your favorite product? Why?

Umbrella fern, an exclusive product from Australia which is very beautiful and a good filler in a bouquet.

Do you have any ambitions within WBE?

My ambition within WBE is now to fully strengthen the sales team. The purchase of all the decoration greens also seems very interesting to me.
